For Sale: 1961 Cadillac Series 62

I have a white 1961 Cadillac Series 62 convertible that I am looking to sell. It is located in Corte Madera. It’s really in beautiful shape with only a few blemishes inside and out. My father bought this in approximately 1998 and I have been taking care of it since about 2018, when he passed away. I assume it has the original engine in it (looks original). Mileage unknown since the odometer was not working when I inherited it, but I fixed it when it read around 15500 and now it has about 17000 miles showing.

I’ve done a fair bit of work on it, most of which I’ve listed on the attached Word doc. Current known issues are the following:

  1. Transmission “hiccup” from 1st to 2nd gear (or maybe it’s 2nd to 3rd gear). Just sticks a little, then shifts.
  2. Suspension rubber is pretty worn out and should be replaced. Can be a bouncy ride.
  3. Minor dent caused by misplaced tire jack (on lower panel in front of rear wheel)
  4. Previous metal repairs on lower part of front quarter panels, near door hinges, need to be redone; metal is “peeling away” from body
  5. Could use some exhaust work as the resonator has been perforated by rust and is currently patched with epoxy
  6. A few small chips and cracks in the paint, which is otherwise in nice shape
  7. Normal 60-year old wear on the red and white leather interior, but it still looks really good.
  8. Horn not working; I rebuilt both horns with new gaskets and had them working; could be a relay or other electrical issue I haven’t been able to troubleshoot

I’m asking $50,000 for it as I think that’s fair given what I’ve seen on BaT and other sites, but I’m willing to hear why that’s too much from an expert or an interested buyer. I would include all the original parts that I still have (generator, radio knobs, extra switches, etc.) and two car covers. This is a beautiful car, with much sentimental value but no more practical value to me. I’d like to find an enthusiastic new owner for it.

Interested parties can best reach me by text at my number listed below, or at email brandon.hemley@gmail.com.

Thanks for taking a look and passing along. Also, if you have any suggestions for Cadillac forums or other channels where I might expose this car, please let me know.
